Chilliwack Chiefs forward Caleb Elfering and Victoria Grizzlies forwards Thomas Molson and Will Schumacher have been named the NAPA Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week.
1st Star – Caleb Elfering (F) – Chilliwack Chiefs
Elfering picked up seven points in three games last week on five goals and two assists, helping the Chiefs clinch a spot in the third round of the playoffs.
Last Tuesday, the 20-year-old had two goals in the Chiefs’ 6-2 win over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in Game 3, then continued his hot streak the next night adding two more goals as the Chiefs won 6-1. Elfering and the Chiefs closed out the series on Saturday in Game 5 with the second-year forward picking up three points in a 7-1 win to advance to the Coastal Conference Finals.
The Rochester Institute of Technology commit has the second most goals in the BCHL playoffs with eight.
2nd Star – Thomas Molson (F) – Victoria Grizzlies
Molson totaled five goals and two assists for seven points in four games last week in Victoria’s Round 2 series win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
The Montreal, Que. native had a goal and two assists last Tuesday in the Grizzlies 6-3 win in Game 3 before registering his first BCHL hat trick on Wednesday in a 6-5 defeat. Molson continued his hot streak against the Capitals in Game 5, scoring the tying goal with 3:26 to play in regulation to force overtime in an eventual loss. He was held off the scoresheet in Saturday’s Game 6 that saw Victoria clinch the series.
Molson ’s 14 points in 12 games puts him second in playoff scoring, just one behind teammate Reegan Hiscock, while his nine goals are the most of anyone this postseason.
3rd Star – Will Schumacher (F) – Victoria Grizzlies
Schumacher had eight points in four games last week with one goal and seven assists, helping the Grizzlies book their ticket to the Coastal Conference Finals.
Last Tuesday, he picked up a pair of assists in a Game 3 win, then piled up four helpers the following night in a Game 4 defeat. After being held scoreless on Friday, Schumacher bounced back in Saturday’s series clinching Game 6 win as he had a goal and an assist in a 4-3 victory to help his team advance.
The 20-year-old forward now has 10 assists in the playoffs, which ties him for the most in the league, while his 12 points are three back of top spot.
